RAMS stands for Risk Assessment and Method Statement. It combines a risk assessment (identifying hazards and control measures) with a method statement (step-by-step safe system of work). RAMS is required by principal contractors under CDM 2015 before work begins on a construction site.
CDM 2015 applies to all construction work, including domestic projects. A risk assessment is always legally required. Full RAMS is needed when working for a principal contractor or on multi-contractor sites.
