Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about RAMS, risk assessments, COSHH, certificate tracking, and UK construction compliance.

Documents & Templates

What is a RAMS document?

RAMS stands for Risk Assessment and Method Statement. It combines a risk assessment (identifying hazards and control measures) with a method statement (step-by-step safe system of work). RAMS is required by principal contractors under CDM 2015 before any work begins on a construction site.

What documents can I generate?

You can generate RAMS (Risk Assessment & Method Statements), standalone risk assessments, COSHH assessments (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), method statements, and site safety plans. All documents are tailored to your trade and project details.

How long does it take to generate a document?

Most documents are generated in under 30 seconds. You enter your project details — location, scope of work, hazards — and the AI generates a complete, CDM 2015 compliant document ready to export or email.

Are the documents legally compliant?

Documents are generated based on current UK health and safety legislation including CDM 2015, HASAWA 1974, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and COSHH Regulations 2002. They include all required sections (hazard identification, risk ratings, control measures, emergency procedures). You should always review generated documents to ensure they are accurate for your specific project.

Can I customise the templates?

Yes. The Template Studio lets you edit, rebrand, and create custom templates. You can add your company logo, modify sections, and save templates for reuse across your team.

Certificate Tracking

How does certificate tracking work?

Upload your certificates (public liability, CSCS, Gas Safe, etc.) by dragging and dropping them. OCR scans the details automatically. We track expiry dates and send email reminders at 30, 14, 7, and 1 day before expiry so you never work with expired certificates.

What types of certificates can I track?

Any certificate with an expiry date: public liability insurance, professional indemnity, CSCS cards, Gas Safe registration, EIC/EICR certificates, Part P notifications, ACS qualifications, F-Gas certificates, IPAF/PASMA cards, asbestos awareness, and more.

Do I get expiry reminders?

Yes. Automatic email reminders are sent at 30 days, 14 days, 7 days, and 1 day before a certificate expires. Your dashboard also highlights any certificates that are expiring soon or already expired.

Trades & Compliance

Which trades do you support?

We support electricians (BS 7671, Part P, EAWR), plumbers (Water Regulations, ACoP L8), gas engineers (GSIUR 1998, Gas Safe), builders (CDM 2015, LOLER, PUWER), painters & decorators (COSHH, lead paint), HVAC engineers (F-Gas, REFCOM), and carpenters & joiners (PUWER, wood dust). Each trade has regulation-specific templates and compliance checks.

Do I need RAMS for domestic work?

CDM 2015 applies to all construction work, including domestic projects. While domestic clients have fewer duties, contractors must still manage their own safety. A risk assessment is always legally required. Full RAMS is needed when working for a principal contractor or on multi-contractor sites.

What is CDM 2015?

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 are the main framework for managing health and safety in UK construction. They place duties on clients, designers, principal designers, principal contractors, and contractors. Key requirements include appointing duty holders, preparing construction phase plans, and ensuring RAMS are in place before work starts.
